Irregular verbs

Abide: If you can't abide someone or something, you dislike them very much

Arise: formal to happen

Awake: literary to stop sleeping or to make someone stop sleeping

Bear: to accept, tolerate or endure especially something unpleasant

Beat: to defeat or do better than

Become: to start to be

Befall: If something bad or dangerous befalls you, it happens to you

Beget: old use to be the father of

Begin: to start to be, do, etc.

Behold: to see or look at

Bend: to (cause to) curve

Beseech: to ask for something in a way that shows you need it very much

Beset: troubled (by); full (of)

Bestride: to sit or stand with a leg on either side of an object or animal

Bet: to risk money on the result of an event or a competition, such as a horse race, in the hope of winning more money

Bid: (bidding, bid, bid) to offer a particular amount of money for something which is for sale and compete against other people to buy it, especially at a public sale of goods or property

Cling: to stick onto or hold something or someone tightly, or to refuse to stop holding them

Come: to move or travel towards the speaker or with the speaker

Cost: the amount of money needed to buy, do or make something

Could: past simple of can, used to talk about what someone or something was able or allowed to do

Creep: to move slowly, quietly and carefully, usually in order to avoid being noticed

Cut: to break the surface of something, or to divide or make something smaller, using a sharp tool, especially a knife

Deal: to do businnes

Dig: to break up and move soil using a tool, a machine or your hands

Dive: to jump into water, especially with your head and arms going in first, or to move down under the water

Do: used with another verb to form questions and negative sentences, including negative orders, and sometimes in affirmative sentences for reasons of style

Draw: to make a picture of something or someone with a pencil or pen

Dream: a series of events or images that happen in your mind when you are sleeping

Drink: (an amount of) liquid which is taken into the body through the mouth

Drive: to move or travel on land in a motor vehicle, especially as the person controlling the vehicle's movement

Dwell: to live in a place or in a particular way

Eat: to put or take food into the mouth, chew (= crush with the teeth) it, and swallow it

Fall: to suddenly go down onto the ground or towards the ground without intending to or by accident

Feed: to give food to a person, group or animal

Feel: to experience something physical or emotional

Fight: to use physical force to try to defeat another person or group of people

Find: to discover, especially where a thing or person is, either unexpectedly or by searching, or to discover where to get or how to achieve something

Flee: to escape by running away, especially because of danger or fear
